Joan Soward’s newest novel The Start Prophecy is a wonderful tale of Enoch’s dedication to return to Jerusalem and see the face of the Messiah.  This speculative fiction novel is full of faith building action, adventure and romance, making it an exciting inspirational page turner. The prophecy of Samuel the Lamanite spur’s Enoch’s devotion to the cause.  Although almost everyone doubts that Enoch will be able to complete the mission and return alive, he is undaunted to complete the  journey on land and by sea. He is accompanied by the ship builder and the son of the chief judge in Zarahemla. His little brother almost drowns when he jumps into the ocean and swims for the ship to join the quest and a stow-away charged with murder makes a second unplanned passenger. Along the way they they experience the fulfillment of Samuel’s prophecy, assist a woman to return to her home from which she was kidnapped years earlier, ward of thieves, overcome the elements and learn to rely on the Lord for guidance in every situation.
Joan has skillfully described the many cultures, lands, foods, and peoples around the world at the time of Christ in this novel.  The Star Prophecy is a definite must read you will want to share with family and friends year round.
When I asked Joan how she came up with the idea for writing this novel she said that her daughter came home from Institute class with the premise . She loved it! It was about Nephite young men setting sail to find the Christ Child.
The Star Prophecy as well as Joan’s other Novels, Haunt’s Haven and Chocolate Roses published by Walnut Springs Press are available at  LDS bookstores and on Amazon.
Thank you so much, Margaret, for this book review of The Star Prophecy, and for your endorsement!
