Writers Unite @ Bookmans in Tucson Saturday 3/19/11


Saturday, March 19th, 2011 Writers Unite to Fight Cancer will hold a Cancer Awareness Fair at Speedway Bookmans in Tucson, Arizona. $1.00 from each book sold at this event will be donated to the American Association for Cancer Research (AACR).  Today’s cancer researchers are on the verge of life-saving discoveries. But what scientists desperately need are the funds required to mount an all-out assault against cancer. All the authors who participate with Writers Unite to Fight Cancer are concerned because one in three people will develop cancer during their life. Some of them have had cancer themselves, others have lost loved ones to this disease, and others are acquainted with survivors. This year more than 7.6 million people around the world will die from cancer.

Health Care Providers will be available with information and education. StaceyBouffard is a holistic kinesiologist and certified personal fitness trainer. Others will be there also.

 

The Morning book signings will be from 10:00 AM until Noon:

Nancy Lee Burns wrote RETIREMENT: SACRED OR SCARED. Anyone who likes senior adventures, or who is frightened of what retirement will mean, will enjoy this book. Nancy lost her sister  and a dear friend to cancer in 2010.

Carroll Hofeling Morris is co-author of LEANING INTO THE CURVES. Morris is also the co-author of the In the Company of Good Women trilogy: ALMOST SISTERS, THREE TICKETS TO PEORIA, and SURPRISE PACKAGES. The books address universal issues. Morris and her husband live in Green Valley, AZ.

Margaret Turley RN, author of SAVE THE CHILD, the story of one family’s struggle to win the battle with cancer and save their daughter. This medical-legal drama will touch every reader’s heart. Turley recently retired from her career as a registered nurse. Her friend’s son Adam is battling Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia – like Sharon in Save the Child.

Donna McKinnis is the author of THOUGHTS FROM JAPAN – Life lessons from Tokyo’s Fast Lane and Other Asian Places. The author as she navigates her way through living as an expatriate for five years. She is a member of the Society of Southwestern Authors and lives in Tucson.

Louise Laughlin will be signing her children’s picture books LIBBY’S VACATION and SANTA GOES SHOPPING illustrated by Kathy Brady in the Kids Center.

The afternoon book signings will be from Noon until 2PM:

Joyce DiPastena writes medieval romance. LOYALTY’S WEBB is set in twelfth-century France; King Henry II of England has just finished crushing a rebellion by his power-hungry sons and now seeks to tame the lawless barons who supported them.  DiPastena graduated from the U of A with a degree in History, emphasis in the middle ages.

Donna Hatch has been nominated as finalist in the Golden Quill and the Sara Merritt awards. Her regency romances include: THE STRANGER SHE MARRIED and THE GUISE OF A GENTLEMAN in the Rogue Heart series. QUEEN IN EXILE is a Fantasy Romance. She is a busy mother of seven and lives with her husband in Gilbert AZ.

Louise Laughlin wrote I MUST BE DREAMING, a memoir her husband Larry which includes his tour in Viet Nam and battle with esophageal cancer. Louise also lost her sister to cancer.

Cynthia Roedig will sign GINGER BOY AND THE SILVER LARIAT a westernized retelling of the gingerbread man origination story, but with a twist. She will also offer the character ornaments and gift sets for sale. Roedig is a resident of Tucson.

The Kids Center will feature Cindy R. Williams is the author of CHASE MCKAY DIDN’T GET UP TODAY, finalist for the Southwest Book Award and the Arizona Glyph Award. It’s a snuggle, giggle children’s picture book with lessons in responsibility and accountability. Williams is a devoted wife and mother of five. The illustrations are by Donald Jenny. Cindy’s brother is a testicular cancer survivor.
